Ok, so here we are at Day 2 of the MomDot Blog Party and I am super late getting this posted.  Better late than never and I still want to join in the fun.  So, without further ado I bring you Day #2. (Hey, that rhymes!)

DAY TWO QUESTION

Traditions, what are some of your favorite family traditions? What are some that you want to begin?

Well, I must honestly say that although we had a routine when I was growing up, we did not have a lot of traditions.  We are a family full of just-winging-it people.  My parents are divorced so our routine was as follows:  We would spend Christmas Eve with my father’s family.  Since they all came to this country from Panama their tradition was opening their gifts at midnight on Christmas Eve.  We would open until the wee hours of Christmas morning and then my Dad would bring us back to my mother’s house.  Then we would wake up – EXHAUSTED and open our Christams gifts with my mom’s family.  That was basically it.  It was lots of fun every year, but like I said there were not real traditions – only routines.

Now I am married to a man whose family has lots of traditions.  They buy a new meaningful ornament every year and mark the year on it so you know when you got that one.  They also let the kids open one gift on Christmas Eve.  Usually the gift is some sort of activity that will keep the kids entertained.  They also have all the recipients open the gifts in order of their ages.  The baby of the family goes first and we move on to the eldest from there!  I love that tradition because you get to see what everyone is getting and see their reaction to it and hear their thoughts on it.  I love it because it is so nice and relaxing!

*Of course I have no pictures to go along with this post because I stink at always remebering to take pictures and the pictures that I do have are on the external hard drive and I can’t get to it now because my husband is sleeping and he keeps it under his nightstand. :[
